Roared on by a vocal crowd, PG’s turned over a young and talented Ashmoor side to make it to the Devon Cup final for the third year on the spin.  Having beaten Torbay in the quarters, PG’s were aware of the threat Ashmoor would pose, and as soon as the game started PG’s new they were in for a battle.  The tempo of the game was high, and PG’s created several chances attacking directly down the middle of the Ashmoor defence, but failed to convert, despite having a goal ruled out for it being struck from outside the circle.  Gareth Roberts struck before half time, putting PG’s 1-0 up leading into the break.  With captain Hunwicks sidelined with his recurring ankle injury, his team talk revolved around ‘more of the same please boys’ and we would win the game.  PG’s came out after the break with more vigar than before the half time whistle, and were soon 2-0 up following a goal from the departing Kiwi Rowan Oliver.  It was soon 3-0 when John Brooker, also departing, slotted home from close range.  They could have been awarded a fourth, however, for the second time in the game a goal was ruled out for it not being struck within the circle.  With the clock ticking, Ashmoor continued to pile on the pressure.  Man of the match Blundy continued to impress in goal and made two crucial 1v1 saves and a double save on the line to keep a clean sheet.  PG’s defended their circle well, and the centre back partnership of Uden and Woodgates stood up to the constant threat of the ariel ball, which the Ashmoor side used frequently.  Milbourn picked up Dog, for no other reason than for the rest of the side to choose on cup final day between him and Downton for the most prestigious club award, Dog of the season.  No sooner had the boys left the pitch the party bus was booked for the third successive year for the trip to Exeter Uni, this time to face ISCA, the highest ranked team to enter the competition but also the team who came to Stonehouse and were sent back 5-2 losers in the 2008-2009 competition.  Game on for another spectacle of a final.
